And here I am, out of breath, red faced and perpetually late. Kind of funny, because this is not my usual self. Indeed, more than often I am the one standing at the meeting point staring nervously at the clock ten minutes in advance (In fact I was almost one hour in advance at the Migros contest!). But with the blog things work differently and last minute posts are the rule.

I know I owe you all an apology and an explanation. My last post’s title was misleading, as pointed out to me by Barbara. Probably some of you, like her, expected some dark revelation about my personal life and got none. I talked about some secrets and shared none… My mind was travelling back in years, living those moments I would share solely with my mother and my mind went through what we considered our little secrets.

Shortly after my blog came to life I started looking around for contests to get me going and push my boundaries. If I do not set myself goals I can be quite lazy, so this was a very wise idea. I’d already stumbled into Rossella’s blog previously so I started following her blog, which has very interesting recipes, and I came across the bread baking challenge “Twelve Loaves”.

As previously discussed in my post Cake is… I decided to enroll in a contest launched by Rossella at ma che ti sei mangiato?. I took this occasion to experiment different mixes and flavours for the cake in question, because as you can see in the dedicated post the only clear clues are the basic ingredients and no other instructions to bake this cake are given.
